We offer both group and private lessons. Group lessons are specific to the Rock Bands that we help create. We group musicians based on age and talent. Band size is important to us so that everyone is heavily included in each 'practice' session. During these sessions, students will decide songs together to help retain interest and allow students to perform pieces that they are passionate about. There are typically 4 sessions each year that run 10 to 12 weeks with a professional performance at the end.
Charlie Thornton began his life of music at 11 years old. He studied under Dan Crandall for 12 years mastering a very versatile style of drumming. In 2007 and 2008 he won first place in the Geneva drum competition. He taught group lessons at School of Rock. Charlie has toured the country extensively playing with multiple bands starting a
Charlie Thornton began his life of music at 11 years old. He studied under Dan Crandall for 12 years mastering a very versatile style of drumming. In 2007 and 2008 he won first place in the Geneva drum competition. He taught group lessons at School of Rock. Charlie has toured the country extensively playing with multiple bands starting at 16 years old and currently does so as well. He plays guitar and sings in his current band, “Radar” and also plays solo acoustic gigs around town. His teaching career started 8 years ago and specializes in a wide variety of different styles including rock, jazz, funk, latin and many more!
Tom Sanchez began playing guitar at age 9. Born and raised in a suburb of Chicago, Tom was quickly drawn to the blues and early blues-influenced rock. After performing with a handful of bands during high school it was off to Berklee College of Music where Sanchez graduated with a Degree in Music specializing in Music Production and Engine
Tom Sanchez began playing guitar at age 9. Born and raised in a suburb of Chicago, Tom was quickly drawn to the blues and early blues-influenced rock. After performing with a handful of bands during high school it was off to Berklee College of Music where Sanchez graduated with a Degree in Music specializing in Music Production and Engineering. Once again making his home in Chicago, Sanchez began working as recording engineer and quickly developed a reputation as an in-demand studio guitarist. While in Chicago Tom has played in many bands, most notably Liquid Soul, Soulvitamins and Kevin Purcell and the Nightburners.
Jamie has been involved in music his entire life. His father was a founding member of Styx and went on to teach lessons and open a recording studio. Growing up with this experience has instilled a deep love for the art. He has worked in several corporate jobs in the Marketing industry, but the passion for music has always been there. J

Growing up with this experience has instilled a deep love for the art. He has worked in several corporate jobs in the Marketing industry, but the passion for music has always been there. Jamie's daughter joined Garage Band U several years ago. Working with James was an excellent experience for her and her friends. Seeing this passion continue in the family pushed Jamie to get involved to help bring this experience to more children and adults that want to perform in the area.
